Select Milestones from Library

  • In addition to selecting a set of predefined milestones from a milestone library, you can also define a unique set of milestones that apply to a specific work package. See Define Earning Rule Milestones.

Prerequisites

  • Create a Milestone Library for the project. Creating the library requires a user defined code structure that is assigned at the work breakdown structure (WBS)/control account or work package level. You will need to know what user defined field you need to populate at the WBS/control account or work package level. This narrows the predefined set of milestones you can select from for the work package.
  • The applicable work package has been assigned the Earning Rules earned value technique (EVT). When you select the Earned Rules EVT, a Milestones window appears below the EV Technique field.
  • The applicable milestone library user defined code has been set. The user defined code may be at the work breakdown structure (WBS)/control account or work package level. See Enter Account User Fields or Add a Work Package. Once you set the user defined code, a Milestone Library dropdown appears below the EV Technique field.
  1. Select Home > Earned Value in the Navigation Menu. The main EVMax window displays.
  2. Select your project from the Project dropdown in the Ribbon Menu.
  3. Expand the WBS hierarchy as needed to view the work packages.
  4. Select the work package row assigned the Earning Rules EVT in the top pane. This enables the Work Package tab in the bottom pane, Add/Edit tab window.
  5. Select the Status EVT tab.
  6. Select the named predefined set of milestones from the Milestone Library dropdown. This auto populates the set of accomplishment milestones and assigned weights for the work package.
  7. Click Save in the Ribbon Menu.
